CHRISTMAS FUNDRAISING CONCERT FOR THE
FREDERICTON EXHIBITION AND THE CANADIAN BREAST CANCER FOUNDATION – ATLANTIC REGION
World Champion Elvis re-creator, Thane Dunn returns to Fredericton to celebrate the Holidays.
Wednesday, September 5th was a long, damp, rainy day at the FREX. The midway rides were closed much of the day due to weather and there was a very small crowd at the Fredericton Exhibition grounds throughout the day… but that evening at 8:30 despite the continual rain, people started lining up to get through the gates to see the act that was touted as the closest thing to Elvis, namely Thane Dunn and his eight piece Cadillac Kings. “At show time we had close to 1000 people” says FREX Executive Director, Mike Vokey “and they went wild as Dunn performed hits from Elvis Presley’s library of songs. He stayed around after the show for close to an hour and a half signing everything from 8×10′s to ladies jackets. It was unreal”.
“We have had such a high number of requests from people to bring him back”, said Vokey “that we’ve decided to feature him in two shows, Christmas with Elvis on Saturday, Dec 15th, and to celebrate Thane Dunn winning the World’s Largest Elvis Gospel competition, we are excited to have him performing an Elvis Gospel show on Sunday the 16th”.
The Saturday evening Christmas Special will feature memorable Christmas classics made famous by Elvis Presley such as; Blue Christmas, Santa Bring My Baby Back to Me, Merry Christmas Baby, and many more. You can also sing along to traditional Elvis songs such as Love Me Tender and Kentucky Rain. The Saturday evening Christmas with Elvis show will be 8pm to 10:30. The Sunday Gospel Show, 2pm to 4:30pm will feature Elvis’s true favourite songs; gospel greats like How Great Thou Art, and There will Be Peace in the Valley. Listen to the songs that won Thane the Best in the World Gospel Title. The FREX is pleased to present both shows as family entertainment and admission is open to all ages.
Advance tickets will go on sale November 1st, and will be available for either show or a package for both performances.
Tickets available: Saturday Christmas with Elvis, at the door $40. Sunday Elvis Gospel Greats at the door $30
Advance tickets: Saturday $35, Sunday $25 and Package for both shows $55
The two concert performances will be more than a fund raiser for the FREX. A portion of the ticket sales will be donated to support the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and donations can also be made at the shows. Come out and support two great causes that are very important to the people of Fredericton. In true holiday spirit, there will be a special Christmas gift from Thane Dunn and the FREX for the first 300 package tickets sold to both the Saturday and Sunday performances.
Check out the FREX.ca web site or Facebook and twitter, frex4fun for more information and show updates. It’s another great concert performance at the FREX Exhibit Centre. Come out and support the Fredericton Exhibition and the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
